Dec 31-Biggest Accomplishment of 2008

Well, since I'm home alone for the first time for New Years, I'm pretty bored and going through my blog. I had completely forgotten about this post!!!

My biggest accomplishment of 2008 was losing 37 lbs. I was up to 40 lbs at one point, but once Thanksgiving hit, I didn't do too well. But I'd say 37 lbs is pretty darn good for starting at Easter! In fact, I think i'll post my before/after pics:

Well...Nevermind. The camera went to the New Year's party.

So what was YOUR biggest accomplishment of 2008???

Dec 31-New Year's Resolutions

1. Get my weight down to 150 lb. I'm currently at 178, so I don't have TOO far to go.
2. Once again...get a freaking job.
3. And since I remembered it because of my other blog...clean my room.

Hopefully this will keep him nice and toasty this winter!! :o)

October 7-Nut Bags

So, Lexi collected a bag of acorns for some school project. I was hanging out with her and Shorty, when she told me what happened to them.

She opened up the bag and was going through them in the house when Shorty came home. She had pieces of acorn and chunks of dirt EVERYWHERE. So Shorty told her that she had to take the bag outside, and leave it out there. Well, overnight (I'm going to quote her here) "a squirrel got into my nut bag and ate all my nuts."

September 25-Hulu

Ok, so I've been talking about this website for a LONG time now. I've been telling everybody I meet how great this site is, so I'm gonna finally post the link here. The site is called Hulu (link), and they have tv shows and movies on the site. You have to sit through a few commercials, but it's nothing like actually watching tv. I guess it was created by NBC or something. (But there are shows from all different channels on the site.) They get the licenses to put these things up on their website. Some of them are already out there on the official websites (like The Colbert Report or The Daily Show), but it's easier to navigate hulu than to find the shows on their website. The format of watching them is kind of like YouTube. There's no downloading involved. You just watch it straight on your screen.

When you're looking through, there are some tv shows that they just have clips of, and some that they have the full episode of, so look for that when you're looking for something to watch. It's the same way with the movies, some of them are just clips, and some of them are the full length movie.

You can watch just about anything on the site without signing up. But if you want to watch something that's rated R or something like that, then you do need to sign up. And if you sign up, you can "subscribe" to shows so that when there's a new episode, it'll be automatically added to your queue and you can get an e-mail telling you it's there.

Oh yeah, and the shows and movies do expire after a certain amount of time.

One thing I definately recommend you watch is Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. It's hilarious!!! It has Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris.

And last night I watched the movie In the Time of the Butterflies. It's based on a true story, and it's REALLY sad. I loved it though. It has Salma Hayek and Mark Anthony. This movie expires in 4 days though, so if you want to watch it, you better hurry.

p.s. Some of the commercials are REALLY annoying.

September 20-Some links

Well, my sis pointed out a new blog to me yesterday. It's called "Why Would You Knit That?!" (link)

So I decided to share that link with everybody. It also reminds me of another blog I read, "What Not to Crochet" (link)

I just hope I never get my projects featured on THOSE blogs. lol They do have some really interesting/crazy things on there. I must say, I actually like this cape, except for the poorly placed mountains and the huge tassel on the top.

***Edited to add:

I was going through "What Not to Crochet", and I found a link to "What Not to Knit" (link) Yay!! Even more things that make me not feel so bad about MY stuff! :o)

August 24-River Roots Live Music Fest

So, I went to River Roots Live the last few nights. The first night, my sister took her camera and went close to the stage to take some pics at the beginning. The band was Foghat. She got some really good pics. Here's a few. I'll post a couple more the next time I get around to making a post.

13 July 2008

July 13-Loooong Day

So, I got back from a REALLY long (but absolutely fun) day a little while ago. On our way out of town, we saw the MetLife dirigible. I think that was the first time I had ever seen one irl (in real life :o) I don't usually use those acronyms, but I was just feeling a little sponataneous) We went to the Harry Potter festival in Princeton, Illinois. (It's called 9 3/4 festival...or something like that) We had a blast! I'll try to post pictures soon, but I tend to get lazy and not do things like that. We were there for like 4 hours or so. (And I didn't even get grumpy!!)

11 July 2008

July 11-Mediacom still sucks

So, our internet used to go out every once in a while. Then, the past couple weeks, it's been going out about once a day. That is absolutely ridiculous, right? Well, yesterday, the internet went out 6 times, and so far today, it's been 2 times. My mom FINALLY called them to schedule them to come out and they will...on the 23rd!!!

What REALLY pisses me off about this is that the last time they came out, we told them that something was wrong with the splitter. But the internet didn't go out while they were here, so they thought we were effing idiots or something and they didn't listen to us. So, now that the internet is going out constantly, we can try a million things, and they won't work. The ONLY thing that gets our internet to come back is to go and jiggle the wires on the splitter. The same splitter that we told them to fix, but they ignored us.

04 July 2008

July 4-Happy Independence Day!!

I got back from seeing fireworks a little bit ago. I had forgotten how much I LOVE them!!! Ever since I watched a video in Physics class in high school, it just amazes me how they use the different chemicals to create the chemical reactions/explosions to be the different colors, or the ones that make the fizzy sound, or the ones that look like it's raining stars, or the ones that are in different shapes (I swear when I was younger, I saw one that was shaped like the American Flag), or the ones that fly around after the explosion. Man I love the Fourth of July! :o)

29 June 2008

June 29-Dynamic Tower

So, my sister Boopie was telling me the other day about the Dynamic Tower. It's going to be built in Dubai, and it'll be the first moving skyscraper. I thought that sounded awesome, but weird. It's totally powered by wind turbines built in between floors. I imagined it as just a huge building that turned all at once, but I watched a video on a BBC news page today, [Dynamic Tower Plans Unveiled] and it looks like the floors all move separate from each other. That is freakin amazing! Seriously, I recommend looking at the video of it through that link. I wonder what it would be like to get off of the elevator though. And would you get seasick from living there? I don't know, but I totally wanna see it. That is officially added to the list of things I wanna do before I die. :o)

edit: I just found another link [Dubai plans 'moving' skyscraper] and I think the video is on there too...and this link has an article to go with it.

June 25-Ass hat

So the name of the following comic is comicasshat1. I don't find this actual comic that funny, but because it's about an asshat it did make me laugh. So anyway, here's the comic:

Cyanide and Happiness, a daily webcomic
Cyanide & Happiness @ Explosm.net

Personally, when I first heard my friend call somebody (probably me) an asshat, I pictured one of those little hats with the propeller on them:Then, when you fart, the little propeller starts going.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just weird.

23 June 2008

June 23-Too cute

So, anybody who likes the miyazaki movies (Rachel and Lexi, that's you guys) will enjoy this link. Of course everybody else might like it too. It's a craigslist listing. My favorite part is "I'm only asking for 2900 because it's really furry and sometimes people get sick on it."

20 June 2008

June 20-Finished projects...again

Ok, I didn't get around to taking pictures of things til now, but i've finally got them on the computer and there's some cool stuff. I also have a purse finished, but I haven't taken pics yet. I need to add a liner to the purse anyway.

First, I have a golden snitch.

Next, are some fingerless gloves called Fetching. It's a very popular pattern and I really like them. Especially the dark purple with my black nail polish. :o)
And last, I have some pictures of the spiderman blanket I've been talking about. Here's a pic of the whole thing:
Here's a pic of just the center:
I ran out of blue yarn for part of the outside, so I had to do a small portion of it in a darker blue, but I still think it looks awesome. :o)

16 June 2008

June 16-Harry Potter Prequel

For those of you who have read the books, or just like the movies, I figured I'd post this link (and so I don't lose it. lol) It's the full prequel to the Harry Potter books. It's not much....just about a page worth of reading. But there it is.

13 June 2008

June 13-Friday the 13th

So, you know how every where in Iowa is flooding right now? Well, that now includes my back yard. And soon, my sister's yard. My mom and I went for a walk to check on the creek (even though we could see it from our back yard, we really have to worry if it gets too far in the park across the street, cuz then it'll come down my street and flood my house...at least that's what i've been told. I was too young to remember much from the last floods). My sister's house is on the way so when we got to her house and saw that the creek was coming across the street in front of her neighbor's we called her to wake her up and tell her to move her car. While we were on the phone, the creek rose even more, and the sidewalk (which was the only way home because the back way had already been covered by the creek for hours) was completely covered for a couple yard-lengths (yard as in a house and a yard, not as in 3 feet). So I walked through the people's yards to get home, and my sister's staying here for now. Oh yeah, and our sump pump isn't working right now. So, yeah. We're screwed.

11 June 2008

June 11-Another thing done

I finished the blanket I was crocheting for Rachel, but I'm not posting any pictures of it up until I give it to her, cuz I don't wanna ruin how effin' cool it is. I also made myself some fingerless gloves, but I'm gonna wash them before I cut the ends of the yarns, and I'm gonna cut the ends of the yarn before I take pictures. So anyway, I've got 2 things done, but I'm not posting any pics yet.

Rachel, you need to get your blanket, cuz it's really cool looking.

08 June 2008

June 8-Subway help

So, I used to eat at subway a lot. One time, I got a Tuna on Italian Herb bread. I had apparently ordered with someone else, because that's when they usually write what it is on the wrapper. Here's the wrapper:
Well, I had the wrapper sitting there, upside down, while I ate my sandwich. I happened to look down, and this is what I saw:
I guess that person really wanted out of their job. lol

06 June 2008

June 6-Latest batch of finished projects

Here's the last 2 pictures of all the stuff I've finished. Now I'll try to start posting pics as I finish things, rather than waiting until I have like 20 things done.

Here's the doggie sweater I made for Crystal. The color matches her eyes great, but she's always HATED pictures. She's like Earl Hickey (from My Name is Earl).

This is a hat that Ginny Weasley wore in Goblet of Fire. This was the orange-est yarn I had but I still like the hat. I also REALLY like this picture of me.

01 June 2008

June 1-Some more finished projects

Here are some more pictures of things I've finished knitting/crocheting. I'm currently working on a spiderman blanket for Rachel. I got a lot of it done yesterday, but then I realized that I had the wrong shade of blue, so I got some new yarn and I have to redo the blue part. Anyway, here's the pictures:

This is "Hot Head" from my Stitch 'n Bitch book (which is my favorite knitting book...Thanks so much Shorty!!!) It's supposed to have orange in it too, but I just used extra red, which made it look kinda reggae.

This is a hat from an old edition of "The Workbasket". My grandma gave me a bunch of those old magazines, and I finally got around to making stuff from them. This pattern also has a matching sweater that I didn't make.

This is another hat from "The Workbasket". This one is crochet. It's the shell stitch.

These are some gloves I crocheted from a pattern in "The Workbasket". I didn't do the right seam around it, so it's REALLY hard to get your fingers in.
This is a knit sweater I made from a pattern on the little thing that goes around the yarn. It looked a LOT better in their picture than it looks on me. lol

30 May 2008

May 30-umm

So, I've kinda been on a knitting/crocheting binge lately. (mainly because I recently joined Ravelry). Anyway I came across this link, and all I have to say is...Wow.

May 30-Well, here it is

So, a while back I promised I would post the picture I took of Luke at a hockey game. I also said I would post some pictures from the jersey auction he was in, but I don't have them on my computer, and I can't find the discs that I put them on, so here's the picture I DO have.

May 28-I have old ears

This is really cool. You've all heard of those Mosquito ring tones right? On that site, you can listen to different ones for different ages. I can only hear the 30 & under. I SHOULD be able to hear the 24 & under, but I guess I have old ears.

May 25-What's My Blog Rated?

So I just found this webpage. My blog is rated PG for using the word "suck" 1 time.

OnePlusYou Quizzes and Widgets
edited: ok, so suck was from my post about how mediacom sucks. after I posted this, my blog was changed to a rating of "G", but I had used the word "breast" once. I looked it up, and I had typed "4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves" in the Cheesy Chicken and Rice Casserole recipe. lol.

edited again: AHAHAHAH!!! Shorty, you should look yours up!!

24 May 2008

May 24-Ravelry

Sorry for not posting for a while, and it'll probably be a while longer til I make a real post, but I found a website that I'm just in LOVE with. It's called Ravelry. It's a knitting community site. You have to be signed up to actually see any of the stuff on the site. And I know, I'm a freaking nerd, but I think it's cool.

17 May 2008

May 17-My Camera

So, one of the reasons I haven't been blogging much, or it takes me a while to blog something is because of my camera. My dog ate it. Well, at least she tried. Here's what it SHOULD look like:
And here's what it DOES look like:I do use it occassionally, but the screen is cracked, so the camera tries extra hard to try to put the picture up there...and it only take like 10 pictures before the batteries die. And those are completely new batteries.

16 May 2008

May 16-I got lucky...

So, I've found a few 4-leaf clovers in my life. But the way I found them was by sitting there, picking every clover in a patch to see if it had 3 leaves or 4. Well, I let the dogs out the other day, and I was standing there waiting for them. I looked down at the clover patch next to the stairs, and I happened to look RIGHT at a four-leaf clover. I couldn't believe how lucky that was! Well I already have 2, and I had promised the next one to my mom, so I picked it, took pictures of it, and then taped it to a piece of paper for her. Here's a pic:Well, Yesterday, I was standing there, and I looked at the clover patch on the other side of the stairs, and guess what I saw....Another four leaf clover!! I didn't pick this one, because, as I found out when I taped Mom's clover to some paper, I have REALLY crappy tape....even though it's clear tape, it's not totally clear when you put a couple layers on. So anyway, I've got pictures of it anyway.

15 May 2008

May 15-Some finished projects

So, I haven't posted any pictures of what i've knit/crocheted lately. I haven't taken pictures of the sweater I made yet, but I'll get around to it one of these days. Here's some pics of the other stuff I've made. If anybody stumbles across this page, and wants a pattern for any of these, then just leave a comment, and i'll get it to you.

Here's a hat I crocheted. I think it was supposed to be taller, but it isn't. lol

Here's a baseball I crocheted. I made it in 2 pieces, like a baseball really is, and sewed them together and then embroidered it with the red.

Here's a purse I made. It doesn't really hold a lot, but I think it's mostly for show.

Those three patterns were from old issues of a magazine called The Workbasket. This next one is from some website...I don't remember which. The top part of the picture is a full picture of the scarf, and the lower part of it is a closeup to show the detail on it.
I came up with these last 2 scarves myself. They're both Quad City Flames scarves. This first one is a tube scarf. It's got the same pattern on each side of it. The top pic is the full scarf, and the bottom is a closeup of the logo. I didn't really like this scarf much because it's so wide. I have other scarves that are wide, but this one is also thick.

Here's my Quad City Flames Illusion scarf. It's about twice the width of the last scarf. The top picture shows what it loks like if you look at it straight on, and the bottom pic is from an angle. This is definately one of my favorite scarves.

Well, that's it for now. Hopefully I'll get off my butt and take a pic of that shirt I made.

May 13-Southwestern Goulash

We made this a couple days ago. We used different noodles, no green chilies and less onion. It makes 6 servings and the way we made it, it's only 210 calories. If you go strictly by the recipe, it's 224 calories. It's from Light & Tasty magazine.1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni
1 pound lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
2/3 cup frozen corn
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (4 ounces) chopped green chilies
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup minced fresh cilantro

Cook macaroni according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a Dutch oven over medium heat, cook beef and onion until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the tomatoes, corn, tomato sauce, chilies, cumin, pepper and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 3-4 minutes or until heated through.
Drain macaroni; add to meat mixture. Stir in cilantro and heat through.

We didn't use a Dutch oven...just a really big frying pan.

12 May 2008

May 12-Cheesy Chicken & Rice Casserole

So, we just made this. It's REALLY good. We used an 11 x 9" pan instead of 11 x 8". No big dea. Also, where it says season chicken as desired, I put a little bit of salt and pepper on it. And It was pretty watery when we took it out of the oven, but after letting it sit for 10 minutes, it soaked up most of the juices. Oh yeah, and I got the recipe from light & Tasty magazine (one of the little bonus books) Well, that's about it. enjoy.1 can (10 3/4 oz.) Campbell's Cream of Chicken
1 1/3 cups water
3/4 cup uncooked regular long-grain white rice
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Stir soup, water, rice, onion powder, black pepper and vegetables in 11x8" (2-qt) shallow baking dish.
Top with chicken. Season chicken as desired. Cover.
Bake at 375ยบF for 50 min. or until chicken is cooked through and rice is tender. Top with cheese. Let casserole stand for 10 min. before serving. Stir rice.

This makes 4 servings. I figured out the calories for the ingredients I used and it's 286 calories a serving. There's a suggestion here for 2 ways you can make it differently.

Taste of Italy: In place of onion powder and pepper, use 1 tsp Italian seasoning, crushed. Substitute 1/3 cup shredded Parmesan for Cheddar.

Mexican Fiesta: In place of onion powder and pepper, use 1 tsp chili powder. Substitute Mexican cheese blend for cheddar.

May 8-Mediacom sucks

May 8-11:31 a.m.

So, I’m typing this in Microsoft Word, and I’m going to have to post it later. You see, our internet is out…for the millionth time. We have mediacom cable internet, and out internet went out, so we had them come out and take a look at it. They did nothing. Then our internet started going out every day, at least once a day, if not more. So we had them come out again and take a look at it. (it took over a week before they could come out) They did something, but it had nothing to do with what we told them the problem probably was. So the internet worked…for a couple hours. The rest of that night, it was in and out every 10 minutes. Well, it got better. Now it only goes out about every other day. Today was a day it went out. I was trying it on my computer, and the internet wasn’t working. So I went downstairs, and restarted the internet box thingy (I have no clue what it’s called). It said we had internet, so I came back up to my computer and tried it again. I usually don’t even have to restart my connection, let alone my computer for it to start working, yet it wouldn’t work. So I went downstairs to try and figure out what was wrong. The box thingy said that we were connected, but even that computer (which is hooked directly into the box) wasn’t connected to the internet. Well, when I tried to see if it was connected, the box went back to saying we weren’t connected. So I tried resetting it. I tried resetting the wireless connection. I tried restarting the computers. Nothing worked. My mom just went out and fiddled with the splitter outside (which is what we TOLD them was wrong the last time they came out) and now we’re connected to the internet. So, save yourselves the trouble and don’t get Mediacom….cuz they fucking suck.

And I'll be lucky if I can post this right away because the internet keeps going in and out again.

May 7-Easy Chicken Potpie

I know, I know, enough with the recipes already...but at least I'm blogging again. :o)

So yesterday, my mom and I made these Easy Chicken Potpies. It's actually one big thing with 'biscuits' on top. But our biscuit dough was really runny...so it's like one big biscuit on top. It still tastes really good though! :o) I'm actually having leftovers right now. And once again, the recipe is from Light & Tasty magazine.Easy Chicken Potpie

1 can (10 3/4 ounces) reduced-fat reduced-sodium condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) reduced-fat reduced-sodium condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 1/4 cups fat-free milk, divided
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon poultry seasoning
2 packages (16 ounces each) frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
1 1/2 cups cubed cooked chicken breast
1 1/2 cups reduced-fat biscuit/baking mix
1/3 cup egg substitute

In a large bowl, combine the soups, 1/2 cup milk, thyme, pepper and poultry seasoning. Stir in vegetables and chicken. Transfer to a 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish coated with nonstick cooking spray.
In a small bowl, stir the biscuit mix, egg substitute and remaining milk just until blended. Drop by 12 rounded tablespoonsfull onto chicken mixture. Bake, uncovered, at 350ยบ for 40-50 minutes or until filling is bubbly and biscuits are golden brown.

1 1/3 cups chicken mixture with 2 biscuits equals 342 calories.

May 6-Trapped in the Closet

I told Rachel the other day that I'd put a link to Trapped in the Closet on my blog. This is the official site for it. There are now 22 chapters. And, just to warn you, chapters 13-22 have intros to them, with R Kelly talking about the clips.

May 5-Chicken Tacos With Pineapple Pico de Gallo

Ok, I have yet another recipe to post up here. Now, as I've said, i've been cutting back on my calories lately. A lot of meals end up leaving me hungry still. I had 3 of these (they're pretty small), which was only 386 calories, and i was actually full afterwards. Anyway, here's the recipe:1 cup chopped fresh pineapple
1/2 cup chopped peeled mango
2 tablespoons minced fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
1 tablespoon lime juice
3/4 teaspoon salt, divided
2 cups cubed cooked chicken breast
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt-free garlic seasoning blend
8 corn tortillas (6 inches), warmed

For pico de gallo, in a small bowl, combine the pineapple, mango, cilantro, onion, lime juice and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Set aside.
In a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray, cook and stir the chicken, cumin, seasoning blend and remaining salt until heated through. Spoon 1/4 cup onto each tortilla. Serve with pico de gallo.

Once again, the recipe is from Light & Tasty magazine. They suggest 1 serving is 2 tacos with 1/3 cup pico de gallo, which is 257 calories.

May 3-Mexi-Mac Skillet

So, my mom and i made another meal the other day. It was REALLY good. It was a little spicy, but since i'm trying to cut back on my calories so i can lose some weight, the spice was great compared to the bland crap i've been eating. And if I can deal with the spice, just about everybody else should be fine too. Anyway, here's a pic and the recipe:1 pound lean ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 cup fresh or frozen corn
1/2 cup water
1-1/4 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup uncooked elbow macaroni
2/3 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese

In a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, cook beef and onion until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato sauce, corn, water, chili powder, oregano and salt.
Bring to a boil; stir in macaroni. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 18-22 minutes or until macaroni is tender. Sprinkle with cheese.

We left out the onion, used canned corn instead of fresh or frozen, used shell pasta instead of macaroni, and I put some part-skim mozzarella cheese on top instead of the cheddar cheese (just because it's what we had). Made my way it was only 288 calories, and if you go strictly by the recipe it's 283 calories. Oh yeah, it's from Light and Tasy magazine.

May 2-'The Man Who Grew A Finger'

So, I was reading the news online the other day, and I came across this page. This is freaking cool. You guys have probably already heard about this guy, but I still wanted to link the pages anyway. This guy from Ohio got his finger chopped off, and grew it back. If you follow the link, there's a video on the page which shows the pictures of the guys finger as it's growing back. It's pretty graphic. Today there was another BBC article about it, but showing some skepticism about what parts of the finger were grown back. Here's the link to that article. Anyway, I thought that was cool and I just HAD to put the links up.

May 1-I never thought I'd see one outside of a movie

So we were driving along yesterday, and I saw a guy walking on the sidewalk. I noticed he was in a suit, and I think that's why I notice him. Anyway, as we got next to him, I saw his moustache and I just started laughing. I swear it looked like this:
I mean, seriously...who has a moustache like that?

We had an intruder in the house today. But don't worry. Buddy (my cat) saved us. He tore the intruder to pieces. Here's a picture of all that was left.

April 27-Spaghetti Pie

So, my mom and I made some spaghetti pie yesterday. It's from Light & Tasty magazine. Anyway, here's the recipe.

1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1 cup canned diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon pepper
6 ounces spaghetti, cooked and drained
1 tablespoon butter, melted
2 egg whites, lightly beaten
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup (8 ounces) fat-free cottage cheese
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

In a nonstick skillet, cook the beef, onion and green pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, salt, garlic powder, sugar and pepper; set aside.
In a large bowl, combine spaghetti, butter, egg whites and Parmesan cheese. Press onto the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate coated with nonstick cooking spray. Top with cottage cheese and ground beef mixture.
Bake, uncovered at 350ยบ for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Bake 5-10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted and filling is heated through.

If you divide it into 6 slices, then one slice equals 348 calories.

April 21-Who's Next by Tom Lehrer

I heard this song on an episode of Boston Legal. I ended up finding a video for it.

And here's a link to the lyrics.

April 18-Earthquake in Iowa????

So my mom wakes me up today and asks me if I'm ok. I thought that was weird, so I asked her why? She said she woke up like 4:30 a.m. and her bed was shaking. I asked "Were you dreaming?"

Well, it turns out there was an earthquake. It was actually in Illinois, but the aftershocks were felt in Iowa. And apparently I'm the ONLY ONE who didn't feel it.

April 11-It's over already?

I just got home from the last hockey game of the Quad City Flames Inaugural season. I can't believe it's over. Just like that.

It was a close game all night!! There were some good fights. I'm sure my sis will post some videos of them. And the score was REALLY close! But, alas, (I've ALWAYS wanted to use that word) we lost. In overtime.

Oh yeah, and my ARCH-ENEMY was in the duck blind!!! Yes, I have an arch-enemy. Doesn't everybody?

Ok, this post is like all over the place, but I have a whole lot more I want to say, I just can't think of how to word anything. Don't you hate it when that happens?
