January 4, 2013-New Years Resolutions

Well, it's been a few years since I did some New Years Resolutions, so here I go:
1. Lose weight. I have a few smaller goals for this, my first one is just 10 pounds (hopefully by the end of January). It's going to be difficult until it gets a little warmer. The bike path is covered in ice so I can't run right now, and that was my funnest and most effective exercise that I've done so far.
2. Knit. Maybe I'll try to knit at least one day a week?
3. Restock the house. We had a lot of money problems last year, so we are low on all necessities and food. I hate scrapping for change just to get laundry soap, etc.
4. Set aside money for Christmas and Emergency funds. We almost didn't have Christmas this last year, and ended up spending bill money to do it, and then my car broke down RIGHT afterwards.

So, there you have it. Let's see if I can do it this time.

December 11, 2012

Well, I took some time off from jogging and got lazy. I found motivation in an unlikely place though. My step-son's girlfriend, J, got me going again. I'm hoping that starting this week I will start exercising every single day until the end of the year because I've regained 5 lbs. My first goal in weight loss is now 10 lbs away, so *fingers crossed* hopefully I'll get there by the end of the year.

Well, maybe talking about it was all the motivation I needed. I haven't jogged yet but I did some other exercise yesterday and I got caught up on some cleaning too.

August 24, 2012 need motivation

It's been two weeks since I last jogged. Somehow I'm still losing weight, so that's good, but I'm not feeling too motivated. And not just with jogging. I haven't been cleaning like I want, or knitting. Maybe I need to leave electronics for a week and see if things improve.

August 10, 2012 - update

Well, I'm up to jogging about 26 minutes straight!!! Compared to how I first started, that's freaking amazing! I go pretty slow, so I still have a ways to go, but I've come so far already. I don't have too many days that I can jog, so when I do, I have to take advantage of it and just go. I got some lighter pants to wear so I don't have to wait on the weather. I'm also trying to do some other exercise plans on days that I can't run so that way, when I have like a week straight that I'm not jogging, I'm at least doing SOMETHING.

July 6, 2012

Man, this heat is killing me! Fourth of July, we had 2 tires go flat in 1/2 hour, both of which were caused by heat stress. And today, I couldn't jog because it was already 80 degrees at 6:30 when I wanted to go, and I only have sweat pants to jog in. Grrr.

July 3, 2012

Well, it's been a while and I've come SO far! I'm jogging up to 5 minutes at a time. That doesn't sound like much, but when you compare it to my first attempt, it's freaking amazing! Look how far you've gone, not how far you still have to go, right?

June 2, 2012-Come a long way already

Well, I don't have any of the breathing problems I had when I started jogging last week. I can follow the jogging plan perfectly without needing to stop any more either. I am starting to get some aches and pains though. My knee has been acting up, and yesterday I could hardly walk by the end of the night, but today it's feeling better. I think I need to invest in some shoes.

May 25, 2012-Success, or failure?

Today was a failure because I did not finish the jogging day from the app I was using. I am so self conscious it's not even funny (especially about my weight since one day I was pumping gas and some douchebag driving by yelled out his window calling me a pig and oinking at me). The park was full of people, plus with how long the jog/walk combo is, I had to do 2 rounds around the park, so when I got back around to the sidewalk beside cars, I paused the app so I didn't have to jog in front of them. So I did the 2 rounds and went home.

BUT

Today was a success because my neighbor, M, told me she always walks on the bike path (which I would totally prefer) so I asked how far it is and it's about the same distance as the park. I thought it was further so I had never even tried.

Plus, today was a success because the intervals I did from the app were 60 seconds jog, 90 seconds walk, and on Monday this week, 60 seconds of jogging made me want to give up. I was struggling to do it. Today, it was easy.

So, should I consider today a success or a failure? hmmm...

May 24, 2012-starting over part 2

So, my first jogging day was supposed to be an easy one. Only 2 minutes of jogging, that's nothing. I knew it would be hard because I'm so out of shape, but I had no clue how out of shape I am. It's like 5 minutes of walking just to get to the park, and another 5 to get to where nobody can see me. I started jogging, and after a few seconds I was like, Why am I doing this again? I only made it one minute before I couldn't go any further. My legs were hurting because I don't stand on them like I used to (between the hockey games and working at Wendy's, I USED to be on my feet all the time), and I was so out of breath. I've never had any stamina, but I didn't realize how bad I was. I wanted to just give up, but I still had to walk home, so I didn't sit. I was able to keep walking and after a minute or two, I was feeling fine again. I figured the day was ruined with my attempt at jogging, but I wanted to do another one minute jog just so I had the 2 minutes done, even if it wasn't all at once. That time it was much easier.

I started to head home, but I looked at Terry and he loves being out at the park, so I didn't want to rush him home and I don't want to be a bad example for him. I decided to do another round and try again. By the time I tried again though, I was too wore out. I only made it 30 seconds before I had to find a bench to finally take a break. I spent some time with Terry, drank some water and took it easy. After a few minutes, I got up and tried again and I DID IT!!! I was so proud of myself. I know it was nothing, especially compared to what my sister does, but I was still so happy I made it.

The next day was a day off, so the day after that I did the next thing on the list, which was the same as the first day, and I did it first try! It was hard still, but I'm doing it. I think I may try the app that my sister Shorty recommended though. Tomorrow is a workout day so I'll see if I like it tomorrow. Since I know I can do one minute at a time easy, maybe the jog, walk, jog walk, etc thing will be fine. Well, bye for now.

May 23, 2012-Let's Start Over

Well, I haven't blogged in a long time. A lot has changed in my life and I'm not sure what I wanna start posting on here now. I don't want it to just turn into a place where I talk about Terry non-stop, because it's not HIS blog. But he IS a huge part of my life.

I've lost weight and gained it back, and I look at pictures of me and Terry, and I can't stand it. I HAVE to do something about it. I decided to start jogging. I started by taking walks around Vander Veer, learning the paths and stuff (I'd never walked around there before). Then I started a couch to 5k training program. My sister, Shorty recommended one to me, but looking at it, it had 5 minute warmup, then 60 second jog, 90 second walk, 60 second jog, 90 second walk, and it looked a lot of work just to start out. I've NEVER ran in my life. Like, even when we were supposed to do the mile in school, I speed walked it. I had found a different couch to 5k program on pinterest a few weeks before Shorty recommended that one, and I thought it looked easier to start so I figured I'd start with it for a little bit, then switch to the app Shorty told me about. The one I attempted was just 5 minute walk, 2 minute jog, 5 minute walk and you're done. Well, I'm doing rounds in Vander Veer, so there's a lot more than 5 minute walk at the beginning and 5 minute walk at the end, but I figured it was better, because I want to push myself to do as much as I can.

And now this post is long and boring so I'll wait til tomorrow to talk about my first jogging day.

I didn't know where to post this on the family board so I figured I'd just post this link here. It's definitely not one to show your kids, but it's hilarious!

Dec 31-Biggest Accomplishment of 2008

Well, since I'm home alone for the first time for New Years, I'm pretty bored and going through my blog. I had completely forgotten about this post!!!

My biggest accomplishment of 2008 was losing 37 lbs. I was up to 40 lbs at one point, but once Thanksgiving hit, I didn't do too well. But I'd say 37 lbs is pretty darn good for starting at Easter! In fact, I think i'll post my before/after pics:

Well...Nevermind. The camera went to the New Year's party.

So what was YOUR biggest accomplishment of 2008???

Dec 31-New Year's Resolutions

1. Get my weight down to 150 lb. I'm currently at 178, so I don't have TOO far to go.
2. Once again...get a freaking job.
3. And since I remembered it because of my other blog...clean my room.

October 7-Nut Bags

So, Lexi collected a bag of acorns for some school project. I was hanging out with her and Shorty, when she told me what happened to them.

She opened up the bag and was going through them in the house when Shorty came home. She had pieces of acorn and chunks of dirt EVERYWHERE. So Shorty told her that she had to take the bag outside, and leave it out there. Well, overnight (I'm going to quote her here) "a squirrel got into my nut bag and ate all my nuts."
